Micromax's official website is showing two new handsets aka Micromax Canvas Fun A 63 and Micromax Canvas Fun A 76. But this series has one more handset , Listed at Snapdeal - Micromax Canvas Fun A 74. Here we are looking at Canvas Fun A 76. Micromax has launched so many devices in recent past, starting from Bolt and Ninja series to Canvas 4 and doodle 2 but all are for different users , some are for start up and some are for high end , finding the place between the same Micromax has came with this series. This series has balance of funkiness with the sense of serious maturity, thanks for its ancestors Canvas series.

Micromax Canvas Fun A 76 comes at the price of 8300/- Rs at Snapdeal. Fun A 76 has 3 different coloured back panels i.e. Raging Red , Mystic Blue and Midnight Black.

Coming inside the device , it has 1.2 Ghz Dual core processor from Mediatek 6572 chipset. Screen of the device is 5 Inch capacitive touch display with FWGA 480*854 pixels.
Back of the device has a 5 MP fixed focus camera with flash. There is no secondary camera. Canvas Fun A 76 has 512 MB of RAM with 4 GB ROM , extra memory slot is provided to accommodate 32 GB more.

Fun A 76 is running on Google's latest Jelly bean 4.2 operating system. Good thing about this device is capacity to play HD videos too. Device can Record and play HD videos.
Coming to the battery capacity , this device is packed with 2000 mAh battery that will give it a good run.
Although the screen size is big , resolution is fairly low in comparison to devices which are packed with 2000 mAh or above battery.

Micromax Fun A 63 - Entry level Smartphone ?

Few days back , we seen the launch of Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 which is the costliest from the Micromax till yet but this does not mean Micromax is aiming on Top notch only. They are showing their presence in almost all price brackets. This time , they are back with a low range smart phone named as Micromax Fun A 63. Like there most successful Canvas series , they are starting a new "Canvas Fun" series. As the name suggests, the device will come with new and funky colours to attract new generations and to give them Canvas type of performance at a very affordable price also.

As per MMX Newscaster , Micromax Fun A 63 is a device from the Canvas FUN series and has good entry level configurations.

Here is the first Image. Device comes with three replaceable back colour i.e. Raging Red ,Mystic Blue and Mid night black. Interesting part of the device is its Operating system which is latest jelly bean 4.2.2

Screen of the device is 4"Inch capacitive touch screen with 800*480 WVGA display.

Camera of the device is 2 MP primary with Flash and 0.3 MP Front facing for video calling. Internal memory of the device is 4GB where as RAM is 512 MB.

Micromax Fun A 63 comes with 1.3 Ghz Dual core processor. Although the processor manufacturer is not confirmed , we can expect it to be from their most trusted chipset provider Mediatek.

Battery of the Fun A 63 is of 1500mAh capacity.

Micromax Fun A 63 is very similar to Ninja A 89 in terms of configurations or we can say even , this device is a new Ninja with new name and package. Fun A 63 has upgraded the Battery , processor , Operating system , looks that is a plus for a startup user, where as the only downside in comparison to Ninja A 89 is its primary snapper which is only 2 MP in comparison to Ninja's 3 MP. But Fun A 63 has front facing camera also that is lacking in Ninja A 89.

Price of the device is not leaked but as per our comparison with Ninja A 89 , the device will fit between a price bracket of 5.5-6K Rs.

Canvas Doodle 2 Vs Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8

Micromax's new Doodle's avatar is out now. Doodle 2 has definitely added many new features to the existing Doodle A 111 . New Avatar has Better display , powerful  Processor , Bigger Battery life and good camera and not to forget the Uni body Aluminium finish but there is an area where Canvas Doodle 2 will suffer and that is Memory ,Yes doodle 2 has inbuilt 16 GB of storage out of which 12 GB is usable and there is NO external SD card slot.

This is Micromax's second handset in the Samsung's dominated Phablet series. Samsung is already in the market with there 2 Mega series handset i.e. Mega 5.8 and Mega 6.3 . We are comparing here Mega 5.8 inch as both Mega 5.8 and Doodle 2 has almost same display size i.e. 5.8 inch and 5.7 inch respectively.

The first impression we get from any handset comes from the build quality. Micromax has worked alot in this department and given Doodle 2 a solid unibody design packed in Aluminium. Metal work has added extra charm in the looks of the handset. Samsung Galaxy Mega lacks a bit here and have the same design of Galaxy series with plastic cover at the back.

Coming to the Display part , Samsung should have given Galaxy mega 5.8 a HD display , Resolution of Mega 5.8 is 960*540 with 190 ppi is not good enough. Doodle 2 is far ahead in this department and have a HD display of 1280*720pixels with 290 ppi.



But Samsung has not played blindly , there Mega 5.8 has 1.5 GB of RAM and Samsung's own Touchwiz interface. Along with this , you will get Samsung's reliability and good customer care which we feel Indian companies are still missing. Canvas Doodle 2 has 1.2 Ghz of quadcore Mediatek 6589 processor which is used in Canvas HD , Canvas 4 also coupled with 1 GB of RAM.

One major drawback in Doodle 2 is Lack of External storage. You will have to rely on onboard 12 GB of space. Both the Handset are Dual SIM and are packed with Good battery life. Both the handset has 2600 mAh battery, rated to give good usage. Mega has advantage here because of low resolution screen which consumes less battery.

Only in Nenamark test , Doodle 2 lags behind Galaxy Mega because of not so good graphics like Samsung.

One department left which can not be neglected while selecting a handset , that is Camera.
Doodle 2 has 12 MP primary camera along with 5 MP of front facing secondary camera in comparison to Galaxy Mega's 5.8 8MP primary and 1.9 MP front facing. Doodle 2 produces really good quality images and can be definitely put into consider while deciding for a phablet.

Finally , lets talk about the Price. Both the devices are neck to neck here. Doodle 2 is available at the price tag of 19990 /- Rs where as Galaxy Mega 5.8 is priced at 22990/-

Canvas Doodle 2 launched at a Hefty price tag of 20K

Recently, we have posted about the looks ,configuration and features of Micromax's latest entrant in the Phablet series , Canvas Doodle 2 . Today, we have seen the device listed on Snapdeal at the Hefty price tag of  19990/- Rs.

Configuration wise , Doodle 2 resembles Canvas 4 whether it is about the use of same Quad core 1.2 Ghz Mediatek 6589 processor or 1GB RAM or HD display or same built factor.

Although the device has some differences too. The major difference is in terms of Battery capacity. Yes, finally the Micromax has bundled Canvas Doodle 2 with a big 2600 mAh battery that is rated to deliver upto 8 Hours of continuous talktime. 

Device has nice curvy finish with 2 SIM slot at the top. Primary Camera is mounted at the right top side and is 12 MP with dual LED Flash. Front has 5 MP camera which can record HD videos too.

Canvas Doodle 2 screen size is 5.7 Inch with 1280*720 IPS capacitive display. Device comes with pre-bundled blow to unlock feature , multiple video play and play and pause feature.



Canvas Doodle 2 runs on latest Android jelly bean 4.2 operating system. Internal memory of the doodle 2 is 12 GB. Other standard connectivity features like Bluetooth , wifi , GPS are also available.

Benchmark comparison of Canvas 4 with Canvas HD

Before launch of Canvas 4 , many predictions were roaming around web about the hardware of the device.

Tech websites and Guru's were claiming that Canvas 4  will come with better hardware specs like a new advanced quadcore processor or can be a octacore too, Better GPU for better gaming performance , more internal storage to cater heavy games.

Although Canvas 4 has same Processor , GPU and RAM that Canvas HD has , Canvas 4 manages to impress us with better benchmark scores than Canvas HD. Only the internal storage of Canvas 4 is more in comparison to Canvas HD.

Below are the test results , we have compared Canvas 4 and Canvas HD.

On Antutu benchmark , Canvas 4 has score of 13228 where as Canvas HD has 12281 score.

On Quadrant standard , Canvas HD is neck to neck with Canvas 4 with score of 4062 vs 4083

Only in Linpack test , we have seen that Canvas 4 is behind the Canvas HD.

here the difference is not too much but still canvas 4 manage to score 36.98 in comparison to Canvas HD's 37.644

In Nena mark test also , Canvas 4 maintains its dominance and defeats Canvas HD with good score. Canvas 4 scores impressive 46.3 frames per second which is best in all smartphones under 20K bracket. Canvas HD scores here 40.9 FPS

From above test , it is clear that Canvas 4 has better performance than canvas HD despite the same hardware use. These benchmarks are representation of performance of hardware under some test conditions ,in normal usage , people will never fell these differences so, before buying , do not go on scores only. Have your hands on the device and take a good 360 degree view and performance test.

Micromax Canvas Doodle 2

In the limelight of Micromax A 240 Canvas 5 , New Doodle has shown its presence in news. Despite the not so good response from Micromax A 111 Canvas Doodle , Micromax is pushing hard to place themselves in phablet category. Micromax's this attempt is directly competing with Samsung's Mega series phablets.

The original Doodle was not heavily packed and lacked many basic configurations like Low RAM , Lower Resolution display , Lower internal storage. Canvas Doodle 2 is an attempt to overcome all those shortcoming and will strengthen the Micromax's dominance in Phablet category. 

A reliable source- MMX Newscaster has leaked snaps of the upcoming Doodle 2.

 From the pics , the Doodle 2 looks familiar with Canvas HD and share same form factor.



SIM tray is fitted at the top and it supports Dual SIM too. It feels the back cover will be non removable thus can not be used for replacing new battery in case.

Primary Camera of the device seems to be 12 MP with LED flash. We are expecting the camera should be taken from Sony and should have BSI sensor that gives beautiful picture quality.

The screen size of the Canvas Doodle seems a massive one , above pic shows the size difference between Canvas Doodle and Canas 4. From above , it gives a direct feeling of screen size above 5.5 inch or may be of 6"Inchs.
We hope , Micromax will give some good resolution screen here compared to the Canvas Doodle's 480*854 pixels.

In terms of hardware , MMX Newscaster has published a pic showing the quadrant results of 3964 which is near to Micromax Canvas 4's 4083. It gives us a feeling of using same Quadcore MediaTek 6589 chipset.

Final announcement is still pending and after that only confirmed specs will be taken out.

Micromax A 240 Canvas 5 , Is this the Flagship ?

Before the launch of Micromax A 210 Canvas 4 , Predictions were made that this will be the Flagship device of Micromax. Tech enthusiast expected the features that will make this device as Flagship for the year, but lack of Full HD display , 1 GB of RAM , Same Battery power and same Quad Core processor made the device just an upgrade over Canvas HD. But Micromax has something more in there bag. This time , the same search for a flagship device has started. As per sources , Micromax is planning to unveil their latest offering in Canvas series, stating as Canvas 5. 

Rumors are still the same those were at the time of Canvas 4 , We are still expecting a FHD 1080p display , a 5"inch or above display (This time , it can be of a phablet size ranging between 5.5 to 5.7" Inch display) , 2 GB of RAM , Octa core processor or atleast a Quadcore Mediatek Next generation 6589T and definitely a Big battery. Device will come on Jelly bean 4.3 or 4.2 operating system.

Recently Micromax has launched Canvas 4 , which is still out of market because of high demand.
The Phone has brought many new features to this price bracket of 15-20 K for eg : premium finish aluminium unibody , 13 MP sony BSI sensor Primary Camera , Blow air to unlock device , Vertical Panorama , smart pause , multi window and many other. The New Canvas 5 would be having all these features along with the hardware upgrade.


The unibody design was highly appreciated by the people and now our expectation is to see much better feel. Major upgradation is expected in term of Battery capacity. This time , we are expecting the battery should be of 2600 mAh and that will give enough juice to last for a day with above average use.
Primary Camera of the device will be same that we have seen in Canvas 4 (with sony BSI sensor), front camera might get upgraded to a 5MP FHD snapper.

One important expected software change will be addition of Real time language translation. Key person of Micromax has stated in an Interview that there main focus is now on software and they are working on a software that will automatically change the language in which user want to listen in real time.
Well, this seems a cool upgrade but have to find out - how good this feature work in real scenario and upto what level.

This is first time , we are seeing Micromax promoting their Canvas handsets by publishing their own videos to make people feel the extra effort the company has put in to get all.
